If you are going through the recruiting process for the first time it can be very frustrating and confusing. By the time you get it figured out, if you ever do, it may be to late. This site will give you some helpful information on how the recruiting process works. You will find college coaches telling you how the process works at their school. There also are links to many other good sources of information.

There are many factors that go into a success recruiting process. One of you best sources of information should come from your club coach. When picking a club team make sure that the coach has a record of getting kids into the school that you are interested in. Example: If the club team coach has a record of only getting their players into local DII schools and you want to play DI out of state, that team and coach may not be a good fit for you. Many college coaches rely on their relationships with club coaches to help them find players that are a match to their programs. Example: If a major DI college is looking for players for their program and they have a club coach contact them about a player, they are more likely to take notice of that player if the college coach knows the club coach and that club coach has a good reputation for sending them players that will fit their program. On the other hand if that club coach has a reputation of wasting their time by send them players who don't fit their program they are less likely to take a look at that player.

Make sure if you are looking at a major DI school that you are on a team that is able to get in to the major showcase tournaments like WAGS in October, the Raleigh Shootout in November, the Texas Shootout Memorial Day Weekend in Houston, the Disney Annual Soccer Showcase in December, and the San Diego Surf Cup in July and November. Most all of the colleges attend these tournaments. If you are looking at a particular school, make contact with them to see what other tournaments that they will be attending.

ODP is a great resume booster. Most of the schools will ask about your ODP experience.

College Camps are a great way for you to get a feel for the college atmosphere and the coaches. It is also a great way for you to get the coaches attention.

Recruiting Services are another way for you to get your name out there. Just be careful not to throw them a lot of money without getting results. Some are good about guiding you through the process while other just take you $$$.

Contact the coach!!!! Don't be shy. Make sure you e-mail, send letters, and make phone calls to the coaches of the schools that you are interested in. They want to know that you are interested in them.

Just remember there are thousands of other soccer players looking to get a scholarship at these schools. Each college coach is being contacted everyday by kids just like you who want to attend their schools. Make yourself standout!!
